About JMT

In 1945, a group of dedicated parents and teachers decided to produce a variety show to raise funds for the Jenkintown School District Home & School Association.

Jenkintown Music Theatre (JMT) licensed its first Broadway musical, Where’s Bugsby in 1949, and the legacy of producing high quality musical theatre productions continues 79 years later.

Since that simple beginning, we have incorporated as a non-profit in 2013 and have become one of the premiere community theatre groups in the Philadelphia area.

We are proud to support the arts in the Jenkintown School District through awards for students involved in the arts. JMT also supports other community outreach programs, such as the Jenkintown Food Cupboard.

We are committed to building on the foundation established by Dolly and Frank Kuykendall, and the numerous volunteers who have contributed to the success of our shows over the years, and we hope to continue that legacy for many years to come!

Diversity Statement

Jenkintown Music Theatre is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion at all levels of our community. We celebrate our community’s diversity of race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, economic status and other diverse backgrounds. We believe individuality is what makes a community great and our mission is to empower people to share their unique abilities in celebration of the positive influence of theater and the arts.

JMT proudly supports the music and arts programs of Jenkintown School District through community musical theater productions, outreach, and student artistic achievement awards.
